Is it true that being muscular doesn't necessarily mean you can fight? n:1
I wouldn’t say all are wimps.
Granted, Brock Lesnar is more the exception, rather than the rule, in regards to MMA fighters.
But on point; MMA fighters are training to hit people hard, or make them tap out. And you’ll see more traditional martial arts with similar builds to the MMA fighter.
Fit, with muscle, but not huge and bulking. Speed, stamina, endurance, striking power, and depending on the fighter, lifting strength (those triangle choke holds make for great setups for powerbombs).
But, one of my favorite tv series actually covered this surprisingly well. Dragon Ball Z.
Yeah, yeah, get all the scoffs out of the way. But during one arc, the Z Fighters are experimenting with new transformations. And 2 in particular stand out.
Here’s Goku in what’s known as Super Saiyan Grade 3.
As you can see, his muscular structure is massive. And while his physical prowess is certainly greater, the greater muscle mass severely slows his speed and reaction time.
And now, we’ll focus on Super Saiyan 2.
As you can see, while still muscular, the muscle mass is far less than the previous form. If anything, its more compact. He’s stronger, but without the big knock to his speed and agility.
